Before we start the blog tonight....we need to send big HAPPY BIRTHDAY wishes to our nephew, Markus, as today is his 6th birthday. We hope you enjoyed the Transformer's movie.
Today, we were up early to venture out to Versailles. However, when we arrived at the RER station, we learned that the train from Champ de Mars (Tour Eiffel) to Versailles - Rive Gauche was not running due to engineering repairs on the line. So....after a brief moment of hesitation, we headed over to the Metro Station and took the Nation line to Gare Montparnasse. Then we had to transfer onto the suburban line to Chateau de Versailles. I am pleased to say we made it there and back!

This is a shot of one of the hallways in the Opera. I suspect you can already sense the extravagance of this palace.
Joey says one day when he is successful he is going to build a palace like this! Jim and I hope that we will be able to live in it, too.

The boys were busy listening to the audio guided tour, and are much smarter tonight then they were this morning.
It took us almost 7 hours to tour the palace and walk around the surrounding grounds. We actually had to take the little trolley back as our legs were aching.

This is one of the statues in the garden. The statue is surrounded by a coliseum and a number of fountains. Unfortunately, they were not on today.
We also toured the Grand Trianon and the Petit Trianon. They say that the Petit Trianon was Marie Antoinette's favorite part of the Versailles grounds.
The boys spent a considerable amount of time in the Hall of Battles.
Remember the language barrier thing....tonight poor Joey ended up with the small intestine of baby cow for dinner. It was not very pleased with the scent of the dish!!!
Tomorrow it is off to Caen to see Juno Beach.
